Please discuss the finals schedule with your freshmen.  Share tips and advice to help them prepare efficiently and effectively during the next two weeks.  FIRE Crew should also insist and assist in active studying behaviors during the FIRE periods from today until Friday, January 17.  Get involved – ask to see study guides, notes, and any other preparation materials given by the teachers.  Edit and give revision suggestions on final essays or projects.  Model excellent academic behavior and do everything in your power to provide a conducive study environment in your FIRE rooms and pods.

School of Choice – January 17-31

If you have siblings currently in 8th grade or attending another high school AND they want to attend Foothill next fall – this message is for you!

The School of Choice application window is open from January 17 through the 31st.  It closes at 4:30 p.m. on 1/31 with no exceptions.

Our district recognizes the “sibling rule” which allows a sibling of a Foothill student to attend FTHS without being subject to the lottery.  HOWEVER, those siblings must complete the application process during the SOC window in order to hold their space for the fall.  To qualify, siblings must be attending Foothill in the same year (so a current FTHS senior cannot get their middle school sibling in for next year).

ASB for 2014-2015 Applications

Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors interested in participating in ASB next fall – there is an interest meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 28 at lunch in D108.  ASB applications will be due by 4 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2014.

FIRE Crew 2014-2014 Applications

Current sophomores and juniors can begin the FIRE Crew application process on March 1st – stay tuned for more information.

America Eats – 9th Grade Project

The freshman class will begin the America Eats project at the start of semester 1 – this is a quarter 3 integrated project affecting English, health, biology and EDA classes.

A number of FIRE days will be scheduled in a special way in support of this project.  FIRE Crew will be expected to actively support the freshmen, the advising teachers, the speech/debate team leaders, etc. during these special dates leading up to the debate event on March 24th.  More details to come in the following weeks.
